 Betsy DeVos as Education Nominee after Senate Panel Approves

    After President Donald Trump’s nominee Betsy DeVos for education secretary , Senate Panel Approves her as Education Nominee ,The vote is 12-11, sending it to full Senate for confirmation vote.

    With a party-line vote in the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions that advanced her nomination to the Senate floor.

    The vote allows Ms. DeVos’s nomination to head to the full Senate, where she needs the support of a simple majority of senators before becoming the nation’s top education official.

    DeVos said "I am honored to work with the President-elect on his vision to make American education great again. The status quo in ed is not acceptable

    Betsy DeVos (born January 8, 1958) is an American businesswoman and philanthropist, she is a member of the Republican Party known for her advocacy of school choice, voucher programs, and ties to the Reformed Christian community.

    She graduated from Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan, where she earned a bachelor's degree in business administration and political science, 

    DeVos is married to Dick DeVos, the former CEO of multi-level marketing company Amway.
