Joe Longthorne dies at aged 64

    Singer and impressionist Joe Longthorne has died at his home in Blackpool aged 64.

    Joe Longthorne, whose career spanned five decades, performed to millions of people around the world and sang at the Royal Variety Show several times.

    A message on his official website said: “It is with the deepest sadness that we have to announce that the nation’s beloved entertainer Joe Longthorne MBE passed away peacefully in the early hours of today at his cherished home in Blackpool.

    He started in the entertainment business at an early age after winning a local talent contest,and he regularly featured on other TV programmes in the 1980s, including the Les Dennis Laughter Show and the Royal Variety Performance, and also appeared in theatre in the US .
