Ratcliffe withdraws from consideration for intelligence chief

Ratcliffe has a new-found national profile. But not in a good way.

President Donald Trump announced Friday on Twitter that  John Ratcliffe, R-Texas, his embattled pick to lead the nation’s intelligence community, was withdrawing from consideration and would remain in Congress.

John Ratcliffe, withdrew from consideration Friday after just five days as he faced growing questions about his experience and qualifications, after Trump announced he said, Ratcliffe has a new-found national profile. But not in a good way.

This mean that  the intelligence community will leave without a permanent, Senate-confirmed leader at a time when the U.S. government is grappling with North Korea’s nuclear ambitions.

Trump said he would announce a new pick for director of national intelligence shortly.
